BALTIC IP CONFERENCE 2003: FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
We are pleased to advise you that from 5 to 7
November, 2003 Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, will host the regular
(since 1962) bi-annual Baltic IP Conference this time organized by the
Estonian National Group of AIPPI in collaboration with the Estonian
Association of Patent Attorneys.
The Conference will be held at a time when the
following important international developments are in process:
- the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania)
have received the invitations to accede the European Union;
- joining negotiations with NATO are being held.
Therefore, the general title of the
Conference is "The Baltic States in Uniting Europe" and
the key-topics are dedicated to:
- IP in the European Union. What shall be centralized,
what shall remain in the domain of the member-states;
- the developments in the European Patent
Convention;
- the balance between the supranational and
national interests in IP;
- the experiences of small countries already
operating the European system of protection of IP.
The above list is not exhaustive. Should any new and
topical issues arise, the Conference will find time for the respective
discussions.
The venue of the Conference will be the new Radisson
SAS Hotel situated in the very heart of Tallinn.
The aim of the Social Program is to introduce
the Estonian culture, its historical heritage and the modern times.
Any development in organizing matters, the
information on the program, registration, accommodation, tours, etc. will
be spread via mail to the people who have expressed their interest in the
Conference.
